Karikkakom Sri Chamundi Temple




Sri Chamundi Temple is a 500-year-old shrine located at Karikkakom, a small settlement in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. It is about 2 km from Chackai and 7 km west of East Fort.
Dedicated to Goddess Chamundi, this highly revered shrine is believed to be the seat of satyam (truth), dharmam (personal duty) and neethi (justice). It is said that during the rule of Travancore Kings, people who were accused of various crimes pleaded their innocence before the presiding deity.
The main attraction of the temple is a five-storey, 63-feet rajagopuram (royal tower). The tower is marked by meticulously crafted sculptures of gods and goddesses. These figures illustrate episodes from Hindu puranas. An annual pongal festival celebrated here attracts thousands of devotees from far and near.

Karikkakom Pongala

Pongala is a main festival celebrated at Karikkakom Devi Temple. The Makam nakshatra in the Malayalam Month of Meenam is regarded as the star of Goddess Chamundi Devi. Devotees from all over Thiruvananthapuram District and nearby Districts visit the temple to offer Pongala (Rice Pudding cooked in traditional earthen pots) to the Goddess.

Edapazhanji

Jagathy Sree Krishna Swamy Temple

Sree Krishna Swamy Temple is a highly revered shrine situated at Jagathy between Vazhuthacaud and Edapazhanji in Thiruvananthapuram. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Krishna. There are sub shrines and niches dedicated to Ganesh, Shiva, Ayyappa, Nagaraja and the Navagraha.
The temple was earlier managed by Koopakara Pottis, who constitute one of the Ettara yogam, the traditional custodians of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple. One of the pillars of the Mukhamandapa, in front of the sanctum sanctorum has a sculpted relief of an unidentified ruler of Travancore standing with folded hands.
Janmashtami is celebrated every year, which is attended by devotees from all parts of the city.

Ambalamukku


Ambalamukku Junction





Ambalamukku is located in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. This major busy commercial and residential area situated between Peroorkada Junction and Kowdiar about 3 km from Vellayambalam. Peroor Sree Krishna Swamy Temple

Peroor Sree Krishna Swamy Temple is a highly respected shrine situated at Ambalamukku, a residential zone well within the city limits of Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is managed by the Tiruvithamkoor Devasom board, Ulloor Group.

Kamukara School of Music

Kamukara School of Music is run by the Kamukara Foundation, an institution established in memory of the famous singer Kamukara Purushothaman. It aims to promote music and allied arts. The school is located near the Peroor Sree Krishna Swamy Temple at Ambalamukku in Thiruvananthapuram.
The school conducts classes in Carnatic vocal, veena, violin, flute, mridangam, tabala, key board and guitar. Drawing and painting classes and dance classes in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchippudi and Keralanadanam are also offered.
