Chowara

Chowara is a beautiful quaint village located about 10 km south of Kovalam. This village is dotted with coconut trees and a beach called Chowara Beach. Aazhimala Shiva Temple is located here is a major shrine. Vizhinjam harbor is another tourist attraction.
Accommodation facilities of various standards are available including old Kerala cottages. Aazhimala Beach Resort and Somatheeram Ayurvedic Beach Resort are situated in the vicinity.

Ideally sheltered on the coast of Arabian Sea in Thiruvananthapuram District, Chowara Beach is a long wide sandy beach backed by numerous coconut trees, which conceal the fishing village and an old church. The beach is ideal for water sports and sunbath throughout the year. The famous Kovalam Beach is nearby.
Renowned heritage hotels and ayurvedic resorts are found in and around the beach, which is located at Chowara village.
Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station and Trivandrum International Airport are nearby, and Thiruvananthapuram city is at a distance of 20 km.

Chowara Shri Dharma Shastha Temple is located at Chowara in Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is dedicated Lord Ayyappa. A festival is celebrated here on the occasion of Makar Sankranti every year, which attracts numerous devotees from far and near.
